About The Recorder's Office
The Carroll County Recorder's Office is responsible for recording and maintaining all official public records related to real property in Carroll County. The Recorder serves on the County Records Commission and maintains accurate records of all documents filed, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of vital property records.
Our office records deeds, mortgages, liens, easements, and other documents affecting real property. We collect fees for documents filed and maintain these important public records in perpetuity. We also work closely with the Auditor's Office and the Map Office to ensure proper documentation and compliance with all regulations.

Each veteran is personally responsible for the recording of his/her own discharge. Based on his/her discharge records, the veteran's eligibility for education, disability, loans & other benefits may be acquired by furnishing a certified copy of his/her discharge. These records are filed as a courtesy to our veterans and there is no charge to file a DD214. The veteran is entitled to free certified copies.

Map Office Guidelines:
- All deeds MUST be faxed, emailed, or delivered prior to recording
- Deeds do not need to be executed for pre-approval
- E-files without pre-approval will be reviewed and completed the following business day
- E-recordings processed in order received

Auditor's Office Guidelines:
48 hours to review and process all deeds. Time restarts upon receipt of corrected documents if rejected.
Recording Deadline:
Recordation of documents until 3:30 PM. Documents received 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM will be processed next business day.

Fees and Charges
The following link will take you to the Ohio Recorder's Association website where you can see the recording fees – ORA | Fees. *Please note that Carroll County does participate in the Preservation Surcharge, so an additional $5.00 will need to be added to the recording fee.

We accept cash, checks, money orders, and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) for recording fees and other services.
Disclaimer: Third-party carriers (like FedEx/UPS) sometimes leave packages in the building foyer or with security. The Carroll County Recorder's Office assumes no responsibility for any delivery tracking receipt from any third-party carrier saying it was delivered to this office due to these errors in the chain of custody of these packages.
