About the Program
The Carroll County Victim Assistance Program provides services to local crime victims within the Court of Common Pleas, the Municipal Court, and the Juvenile Court.
We assist and support the Carroll County Prosecutor's Office and the local law enforcement agencies. We also work closely with agencies within the surrounding counties.
Our services are funded by the Victim of Crimes Act (VOCA) and the State Victim's Assistance Act (SVAA), as well as the local courts and the County Commissioners office.
Our Team
Your Rights as a Victim in Ohio
The right to be informed of proceedings in writing and/or by phone.
The right to assert the rights described in the act via representative, and may appeal decisions based on those decisions.
The right to be treated with fairness and respect for the victim's safety, dignity and privacy.
The right, UPON REQUEST, to reasonable and timely notice of all public proceedings.
The right to be present at the above proceedings.
The right to be heard in public proceedings that involve release, pleas, sentencing, disposition, or any other proceeding.
The right to speak with the prosecutor, upon request.
The right to proceedings free from unreasonable delay and a prompt conclusion of the case.
The right to refuse an interview, deposition, or other discovery request by the accused, except as described in the Ohio Constitution, Article 1, Section 10.
The right to full and timely restitution from the offender.
The right to reasonable protection from the accused, or any person acting on behalf of the accused.
The right UPON REQUEST to reasonable notice of escape of release of the accused.
