About Our Facility
The Carroll County Golden Age Retreat has been serving our community since 1938. Originally called the Carroll County Hospital, the facility was built with county funds and has been operated continuously by the county as a residential care facility.
The facility underwent major renovations in 1954 to modernize and expand services. In 1988, it was renamed Carroll Golden Age Retreat. Today, we provide custodial care, assisted living, and intermediate care for persons not requiring skilled nursing care, all with 24-hour licensed nursing supervision.
Our facility is a non-profit custodial care home supported by tax levy, dedicated to providing quality, affordable care to Carroll County residents in a warm, homelike environment.

Our History
1839: First County Home was a farm purchased in Union Township
1867: Present site purchased from John and Mary Moore for $13,600
1938: Carroll County Hospital built and opened April 1st
1954: Major renovation and expansion completed
1988: Renamed Carroll Golden Age Retreat
